Put Your Heart Into Craft!

I asked myself, what is trending the most these days? Well, thinking out of the box is the new black. It is a constant struggle for everyone of us to be unique and exclusive.

New York is the hub of innovations. It has artistic and self liberating get aways. I was told by a friend that their is a place called “Baked in Brooklyn” where I would feel better. I had to feel good since I was done being all sad and unhappy in my life. Expurgating my pessimistic thoughts, was my first priority perhaps. So I decided to visit this place. The commute from my place was long and tiring so initially I was a little skeptic but as soon as I opened the door and entered this place I felt unburdened like a free spirit. There were pots, plates, keychains, show pieces all rich white and ready to be painted.  I moved forward and reached the reception desk. There was a smiling and pleasant lady wearing a colorful t shirt who promptly approached and assisted me with choosing a mug to providing colors and methods to paint. The colors in front of my eyes balanced my perplexed thoughts about my life and made me focus on painting that mug. This artistic time out was not only a mental relief or an emotional purgation but also a constructive contribution to get focused again. After two and a half hours my mug was very well painted and ready to be glazed and burnt properly in fire to give a glassy and shiny final touch. I was so happy at the end of the day  since I was successfully overcoming my flaws like impatience and entitlement. Ranging from ideas how to paint, to choosing colors and finally applying it physically was time consuming and demanded lots of patience. I learnt to let things go, keep myself free and keep working regardless of fearing about results.

I would say this place is a little expensive but worth experiencing. They also have event calendar with various events each day. Events like mosaic night, clay class, bubble painting and many more creative celebrations.

Researchers have acknowledged the therapeutic qualities of art for years and their claim is, art helps to express and  cope up with emotional distress. Not that I am facing a depression but all of us have good times and bad times but complaining doesn’t help. We tend to avoid frustration but systematically aligning  our though process can prove beneficial for our growth. While painting my mug I wanted to make it the best. I wanted to make it colorful and put my heart out to create it beautifully. Neither was I aiming to sell it nor was I competing. And then is when I realized that if I stop proving myself to people and once and for all do somethings for my own self, the result will not only be favorable but also unexpectedly excellent.

This unique concept of pottery and craft studio located in Brooklyn is definitely a time out for all New Yorkers. If not yet, don’t wait. I recommend everyone to experience the world of colors and take a small initiative to fight frustration.
